The daily record: who had the best single day in your competition

Every competition has a leaderboard, and leaderboards reward consistency: walk a bit every day for six weeks and you climb. But there is another story hiding in the numbers — the one day somebody hiked a mountain, walked a marathon, or simply refused to sit down. A client asked us a simple question: out of everyone in the competition, who had the most steps in a single day? Now the app can answer it.

The daily record is a card on the competition dashboard showing the highest single-day total anyone has posted, the day it happened, and who did it.

What participants see

• The record value — the biggest scored day in the competition so far
• Who set it, with their avatar, and on which day
• Their own best day underneath, so everyone has a personal target to beat

The number is the scored day: if your competition caps steps during work hours, or an organiser corrected a day by hand, the record uses the same figure the leaderboard does. It can never disagree with the ranking.

Privacy follows the leaderboard

If a competition hides individual results, the card shows the number and the day but no name. In private competitions that span several organisations, a record holder from another company appears as anonymous, exactly as they would on the leaderboard. Nothing new is exposed; the card obeys the rules you already set.

What managers see

Managers get the same card on the competition page, always with the holder's name, plus a record history: every time the record changed hands, when, and why — a new sync, a disqualification, an admin adjustment, or a recompute. When someone asks "why did the name change?", the answer is one glance away.

Turn it on at any time

The daily record is an option per competition — look for Show the best single day in the competition settings. Switch it on for a competition that is already running and the app fills it in from the history you already have, usually within a couple of minutes. Turn it off and the card disappears; nothing else changes.

Designed to be cheap

We built this to cost nothing at scale. Each participant's best day is worked out from data the app is already grouping when it scores a sync, and the competition-wide record is a single comparison on top. Nothing is scanned on every page load, and nothing runs for competitions that do not use the feature.
