Kudos π: a thank-you that does not disappear into a DM

Someone stayed late to unblock a release. Someone answered the question nobody else wanted. The thank-you gets typed into a direct message, read once, and scrolls away by Thursday. The work was real; the recognition left no trace.
We built Kudos π so appreciation has somewhere to live β in front of the team, not in a private thread.
What it does
Pick a colleague, write up to 500 characters, and send. The kudos appears in your organisation's Community feed as a post with the recipient's name and avatar attached, right next to walks, breathing sessions, and completed habits.
- The person who earned it gets a notification β recognition should not depend on them scrolling the feed
- Teammates can like and comment, so one thank-you turns into several
- The recipient's name links to their profile, so anyone can see what else they have been up to
It can leave the app, too
If your organisation has connected a chat channel under Manager β Integrations, every kudos mirrors into Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Discord as it is posted. The people who never open the app still see the recognition where they already work.
Chat mirroring is available on the Professional and Enterprise packages. Likes and reactions never mirror β only the kudos itself, once, when it is sent.
Guardrails worth knowing
- Kudos stays inside your organisation β you can only send it to a colleague
- You cannot send kudos to yourself
- Text is cleaned of profanity on our servers before it goes anywhere, because kudos is the one post type that can leave the app for a workplace channel
Kudos awards no points. It is recognition, not currency β nothing to farm, nothing to game.
How to try it
- Open STEPathON and go to Community
- Tap Give Kudos π
- Search for the colleague you want to thank and pick them
- Write what they did, and send
You can also start from a colleague's profile β open anyone in Community and send kudos straight from there, with the recipient already filled in.
Why this matters for teams
Wellbeing programs measure steps, streaks, and sessions because those are easy to count. What actually keeps a team together is harder to see: the moment someone notices someone else. Kudos makes that moment public and permanent β a small, visible record that a colleague's effort registered with a real person.
A thank-you costs nothing. Losing it in a DM costs more than it looks.
