Our North Star: 1,000 Companies Moving Together
Every company needs a number it is honest about in public. Ours is 1,000 companies.
That is the number of organizations we want running active wellness challenges on STEPathON. Not signed up. Not trialling. Actually running — employees moving, competing, earning raffle tickets, walking story-driven adventures together.
We track this number in real time and we show it publicly at the top of this page. Right now you can see exactly how far we are. That is intentional.
Why 1,000?
We did not pick this number because it sounds good. We picked it because of what happens at scale.
Below 1,000, we are still proving the model. At 1,000, the model proves itself.
What "active" means
Active means the organization has at minimum one running or completed competition in the last 12 months. Not a dormant account. Not a manager who signed up and never launched. A real team, moving together.
We set this bar deliberately high because we care about impact, not vanity metrics. An org count that includes every company that ever signed up would look impressive and mean nothing.
What changes when we hit it
At 1,000 companies we unlock things we cannot do yet:
- Benchmarking data. We will publish anonymised wellness benchmarks by industry — how many steps the average finance-sector employee takes versus the average tech company employee. HR teams will use this to set realistic challenge targets and justify wellness budgets.
- Cause impact at scale. Every cause-linked challenge donates a portion of revenue to a mission partner. At 1,000 companies we expect to move meaningful donation volumes — enough that the mission partners themselves become a growth channel.
- Network effects. Employees move between companies. When a person has already used STEPathON at a previous employer, onboarding at a new org takes minutes. The more companies we power, the faster every new company ramps.
Where we are today
We are building in public. The live counter at the top of this page pulls from our database in real time. No manual updates, no rounding up, no creative accounting.
Every company you see in that number is one we are proud of. And every company that is not in that number yet is one we are actively working toward.
